Sen. Lamar Alexander has a party trick that he pulls out from time to time. He plays the piano…quite well, actually. He’s been featured with several of Tennessee’s symphony orchestras, like a concert in 2009 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Cades Cove.

On Thursday, he played “The Tennessee Waltz” for a gathering of high school students at Lipscomb University for Volunteer Girls State, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
