Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tn.) received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Spirit of Enterprise Award, which recognizes members of Congress who consistently cast votes that help businesses create jobs. Senator Alexander has received the award every year since he came to the U.S. Senate in 2003.

“For too long, the federal government has been throwing a big, wet blanket over the economy with burdensome regulations that make it harder and more expensive for businesses to create jobs,” Senator Alexander said. “The biggest example of this is Obamacare, and the best thing we can do to create jobs is unleash our free-enterprise system by dismantling the president’s health care law and other regulations, so Tennessee businesses can help get our economy moving again.”

The award honors members of Congress whose votes reflect “pro-growth policies,” including efforts to defeat Obamacare, based on polling of the American business community’s top concerns. Senator Alexander received the award, which is in its 25th year, on Monday at the Maury County Alliance meeting in Columbia, Tn.

On Monday, Senator Alexander said President Obama’s “policies are hurting American workers.”
