Nashville, TN – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today endorsed Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) in his re-election to the United States Senate.

“Tennesseans need Lamar standing up for us in Washington, D.C.,” said Dan Brodbeck, National Chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors and President and CEO of Brentwood-based Compass Partners, “He has a strong record of fighting job-killing regulations like Obamacare.”

“Lamar’s record advancing economic freedoms makes him the best candidate for the job,” said John Arndt, President of DWC Construction, a Nashville-based construction company and chairman of the ABC of Greater Tennessee Board of Directors. “He has an impressive record and his experience as our governor bringing good jobs to Tennessee gives him a unique perspective on the importance of keeping the federal government out of the way of Tennessee businesses.”

Sen. Alexander is the only Tennessean ever popularly elected both governor and U.S. senator.  When elected to the U.S. Senate he had spent more time in private life than public life. He and his wife helped found what is now the country’s largest provider of worksite day care. He has served as U.S. education secretary for President George H.W. Bush and as the president of the University of Tennessee. He chaired the National Governors Association and President Reagan's Commission on Americans Outdoors.  He has worked tirelessly in his career to lower taxes, provide relief from regulatory overreach, allow for greater competition and support Tennessee’s right-to-work laws.

“Tennessee families are better off thanks to Lamar Alexander and we stand proudly behind him,” said Ryan Peebles, ABC of Greater Tennessee president. “We look forward to seeing his proven experience in job creation and support for the free enterprise system continue to benefit Tennesseans.”
