"Labor Day is a time to celebrate the American worker. Unfortunately, all workers are getting in the Obama economy is a big, wet blanket of taxes and regulations that smother our free enterprise system and make it harder to find a job.

"Tennessee has shown how getting government out of the way can help create new jobs. Our low taxes, low debt, right-to-work law and other pro-growth  policies have our state moving in the right direction for hard-working Tennesseans, while the Obama agenda in Washington continues to head  our country  in the wrong direction.

"The simple truth is you can't be pro-jobs and anti-business. Just consider what the historic mistake of Obamacare has meant with its job-killing taxes and mandates:

  • The law's medical device tax has made life-saving medical devices more expensive and made it harder and more expensive for companies in places like Memphis to create jobs.
  • Obamacare's employer mandate has increased the cost of full-time workers, forcing many companies to make more workers part time.
  • Tennesseans have faced higher insurance premiums in the individual health insurance market, and many who already liked their health insurance have seen their plans outlawed.
"That's just the most conspicuous example. From Obamacare to the federal government's out-of-control debt to Washington not being able to keep its sticky fingers off our local schools, Tennesseans need to support a new majority in the U.S. Senate.

"A new Senate Republican majority means a new direction for our country. I'd like to be a part of that majority -- if I am, I'll fight to give workers in Tennessee and across the country something really worth celebrating."
