U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander stopped by Kingsport Wednesday to join Eastman Chemical Company in a topping off ceremony.
The ceremony commemorated the completion of the new Corporate Business Center's steel work.
The building will house 815 employees and will be about 300,000 square feet.
Alexander said Eastman's investment is a good sign for Tennessee.
“It's able to compete in a worldwide market place, that's terrific news for Tennessee. So as important as Eastman's past is, its commitment to the future is even more important and its renewed commitment to Upper East Tennessee,” Alexander said.
The new center is part of Project Inspire, which is Eastman's 1.6 billion dollar investment in the Kingsport site.
The building is set to be done by the end of next year.
